I have many years of experience of working with people, within the NHS as a Nurse and trainer, then in more recent years as a psychotherapist/counsellor. My Psychotherapeutic training background is in the area of Neurolinguistic Therapy, an outcome oriented approach which acknowledges that we each have our own ‘model’ of the world. I have also trained as a Practitioner of Generative Change with Stephen Gilligan and Robert Dilts, leading trainers of NLP second generation. I am a constant learner and continually add to my professional skills.
I offer a calm and nurturing approach as a Therapist and have worked with both adults and children. My most recent work has been with children working within a primary school setting with the Place2Be counselling service and I have completed training as a child counsellor. Using an attachment based approach, I successfully use play therapy to help children to work through their difficulties which can be verbally or non-verbally expressed during play. I have worked with children who have experienced issues with loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, anger problems and autistic tendencies to name but a few. Children often find one to one counselling in the play room a safe place from which to explore and work through issues. Working through emotional problems can help children’s educational development too.
I work in Durham Therapy Centre on a Tuesday and can offer face to face sessions there. I can always arrange other suitable days and times if needed. I also work via Zoom, Skype and Teams as well as Telephone. My Fees are £50 per 60 min. session.
